DMA and Equifax join forces to form data partnership

London, 17th November 2008 - The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) and Equifax today announce the formation of a new partnership, which will see the two organisations working closely together over the next 15 months to enhance the profile of the marketing data services sector within the direct marketing industry. This is the first time such a partnership has been formed with the DMA.

Equifax is a global leader and specialist in credit and business information. The company holds one of the largest sources of consumer and commercial data and is a trusted provider of Marketing, Credit Risk and Fraud Prevention solutions that empowers businesses.

The partnership has been formed as a result of the DMA's and Equifax's mutual interest in promoting understanding of the scope and power of consumer and business marketing data for direct marketing campaigns. The partnership will also serve as an intellectual resource to enable marketers to comprehend and work within all relevant legislation.

As part of the agreement, Equifax is providing sponsorship for the 2008 and 2009 DMA Awards, regional & networking events, data-focussed seminars, conferences and symposia and the Young Spark Award organised by DMA Scotland.

Commenting on the partnership, Mike Barnes, DMA's Director of Marketing & Business Development, says:

"Data and data intelligence is at the heart of what we do and needs a higher profile, especially considering the current financial climate and the environmental issues facing the industry. It's also good business practice. Equifax is a key player and a long standing member of the DMA. They can help us achieve that higher platform for the data sector and demonstrate its importance to all our audiences."

Chris Sherlock, Marketing Director for Equifax, states that the partnership will be of great benefit for the direct marketing sector:

"Marketers have faced a number of challenges over the last few years and we are certain that these will only increase in the foreseeable future. Properly targeted, good quality data should play a key role in helping marketers meet these challenges. We are, therefore, very excited to become the official Data Sponsor for the DMA. We look forward to working with the DMA and its members to maximise the full potential of marketing data to create the most impactful and cost-effective campaigns."
