EQUIFAX’S DIGITAL CERTIFICATION GAINS BS7799 ACCREDITATION
A first for Equifax and a seal of quality
Equifax has announced that SecureMark, its online digital certification service created to help businesses provide secure services via the Internet, has been awarded BS7799 Part 2:1999 Information Security Management Certification by KPMG Audit Plc. SecureMark is one of a few digital certificate suppliers to be awarded the BS7799 Certification. This is a reflection of the security that the service provides and its quality. In addition, KPMG recommended SecureMark for full tScheme approval, which has subsequently been granted.
Equifax SecureMark certificates are already an integral part of the development of the Government Gateway, a centralised registration service for e-Government services which continues to make it easier to do business online.
The tScheme approval, awarded by tScheme, is the result of a detailed assessment programme conducted by KPMG Audit Plc. tScheme is the independent, non-profit making, industry led body set up to create an approved standard of e-security for trust service providers. Since its formation it has become an essential element in providing a level of assurance to individuals and companies using or relying upon e-business.
Ian McKinnon, Director of Information Services at Equifax comments, “We are delighted to have been awarded the BS7799 Certification as it sets Equifax SecureMark apart from the competition and reinforces our position as the leading provider of secure online transactions. This is a first for Equifax and is the result of an ongoing commitment from our team in Wexford. We already have an active programme of work in place to achieve the certification across the rest of our operation in Wexford over the coming months, further strengthening our reputation within the e-business sector.”
