Equifax's SecureMark Awarded tScheme Accreditation
Guaranteeing Secure Online Digital Certification
London, August 24 2004 - Equifax plc was awarded an Approved Service Grant by tScheme for its online digital certificate service, SecureMark. Ian McKinnon, director of Information Services at Equifax, received the award at an event celebrating tScheme's fourth anniversary, attended by Stephen Timms, DTI Minister for e-commerce.
tScheme is the independent industry regulator for secure electronic transaction services. It aims to provide assurance to individuals and companies using or relying upon e-business transactions by independently assessing and approving a range of secure transaction and identity authentication services. tScheme defines the standards of best practices for such electronic trust services, evaluates individual services against these standards, and then grants approval to those services that meet the standards.
Ian McKinnon comments, "We are delighted to be one of the select few to receive this Award. It is essential that our customers know they can trust the quality and reliability of our online services. Our tScheme approval is a mark of assurance and confirms our position as a leader in the provision of services that enable immediate online transactions that guarantee confidentiality, authenticity and integrity."
Stephen Upton, chief executive of tScheme adds, "Our approval process requires significant focus of effort and resources in attaining the service standard required, and we are delighted that Equifax has achieved tScheme approval for its SecureMark service. This further endorses tScheme's value in the electronic trust services market, and marks another step toward positioning the UK as one of the most secure online environments in the world."
