London, 20th January 2005 – Equifax plc is the first credit reference agency to load the 2004 Electoral Roll information onto its databases, completing it even faster than it did last year. Over 44.8 million records provided by 397 councils have been loaded in less than two months.

Neil Munroe, external affairs directorof Equifax Europe comments: “Once again Equifax is the first to load the 2004 Electoral Roll data for credit purposes. This means we are providing access to this vital information earlier in the year than ever before.

“Entry on the Electoral Roll is an important part of the credit granting process and maintaining the quality of the data is a high priority for Equifax. We could not do this without the support and cooperation of all the staff at the councils and our own core team of dedicated experts. With all the data captured, we can now concentrate on handling changes from 397 councils every month for our Rolling Register – bringing our customers the most up-to-date and accurate Electoral Roll information.”

In providing vital information for the credit granting process as well as for fraud prevention, Electoral Roll information needs to be loaded as quickly as possible onto the databases for all the credit reference agencies. In addition, Equifax can provide direct marketers with access to the very latest Edited Electoral Roll information, enabling them to effectively target prospects and gain a competitive advantage.
