EQUIFAX LEADS THE MARKET BY PROVIDING FULL ACCESS TO CREDIT REPORT SERVICES ON SMART PHONES

Consumers can now act quicker to ID fraud alerts and manage their finances on the move with unique access to Equifax Credit Report Services

London, 17th April 2012 - Equifax, the first credit reference agency to provide instant online access to consumer credit information, is again leading the market in helping to protect consumers from ID fraud as well as empowering them to manage their finances. Equifax is the first credit information provider to launch a mobile app that provides full access for consumers to their credit data via a variety of smart phone devices, anywhere and at any time.

“The launch of the Equifax mobile app is a clear illustration of our commitment to bringing consumers even better real time access to their credit information,” said Neil Munroe, External Affairs Director, Equifax. “In particular, we believe it gives consumers a real head-start versus ID fraudsters because as soon as they receive an SMS alert from us that information on their credit report has changed, they can use the app to check the details. There’s no need to find a PC to log on. And if there is a search or credit agreement they didn’t authorise they can immediately contact the organisation that registered it with us to flag up the potential of ID fraud.”

“The free app also gives consumers instant access to their credit report and credit rating for instant financial management” added Neil Munroe. “Whenever they’re considering taking on new credit they can quickly check their credit data on the app so they know how lenders will view them.”

Once signed on as an Equifax member, users can download all the Equifax credit and ID fraud subscription based services, giving them access to the information they need whenever and wherever they are.

The Equifax app is available free from the Apple iTunes Store on iPhone and iPad and from Google Play for Androids.
