Equifax raises over €25,000 for the Irish Motor Neurone Association
Equifax, the consumer and business insights expert, is pleased to announce that during 2016 its Commercial Services business, based at the IDA Business and Technology Park in Drinagh, Wexford has successfully raised more than €25,000 for its charity of the year, the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.
The charity committee; made up of Margaret O’Rourke, Ann Geary, Cathy Roche, Lauren Murphy, Mandy Cousins and Nicola Reddy (pictured below) hosted numerous fundraising events throughout the year; including sweepstakes, bake sales, quizzes, a supermarket bag packing weekend, a snooker marathon and culminating in the main fundraising event of a masquerade ball.
The committee happily volunteered their time in organising and running events, selling tickets, baking cakes, putting up posters and ensuring all events were a success.
Ann Geary, Office Manager at Equifax, said: “The Irish Motor Neurone Association is a charity that is close to the hearts of many Equifax colleagues, as a number of their families have been directly affected by the disease, so being able to do our bit to support them is something we’re all delighted to be part of. We never cease to be amazed by the generosity of the people of Wexford, without whom we would not have been able to raise as much money as we did.”
Together, colleagues raised €12,900, which was then doubled through the companies gift matching scheme and Equifax were able to present the Irish Motor Neurone Association with a cheque for €25,800. This funding will go towards ensuring that the vital work the Association carry out to support those suffering with the disease continues, as well as supporting their families.
Ann continued: “Special thanks to Rodney Goggins who, once again, completed his 24hr snooker marathon, to all of the local businesses who donated prizes for our fundraising events throughout the year and especially to Equifax colleagues for all of their support in helping to achieve such an amazing total, for an incredibly deserving charity.”
